March 14, 2018 – Site Selection Magazine, an Atlanta-based publication that focuses on economic development and location assistance for industrial site development, has announced that Ashland is ranked #7 nationally as a Micropolitan. The prestigious award is based on Ashland’s 2017 efforts toward industrial development, expansion and attracting new companies.
December 20, 2017 – We’ve received confirmation from the State of Ohio Dept of Commerce that the City of Ashland now has two zoned entertainment districts. Downtown Ashland is zoned a Revitalization District, while the 250 Corridor between I-71 and Rte 42 is zoned a Community Entertainment District. This allows Ashland the ability to offer restaurant-driven liquor licenses at a low fixed price to entrepreneurs in lieu of the entrepreneur being put on a waitlist or shopping the open market for a liquor license.
October 18, 2017 – AAED’s Grow Ashland marketing campaign earned runner-up during Ohio Economic Development Association’s (OEDA) Annual Excellence Awards Luncheon in Columbus, OH. Over the past year, AAED has worked with Advantage Marketing’s Gary Underwood and Nicole Rathbun, to create the Grow Ashland logo and marketing material.
ASHLAND, OH – Ashland Area Council for Economic Development hosted its Mid-Year Briefing for Investors on September 14, 2016 at 8:00 AM at the Ashland Golf Club Pavilion. The weather was perfect and the scenery lovely, but even better was the information that was shared and the support that was shown for economic development.
Dan DeVille of the FirstEnergy Foundation presented a check for $5,000 to the Ashland County Community Foundation on behalf of Ashland Area Economic Development. This money was generously given to benefit economic development efforts in the Ashland area. “The FirstEnergy Foundation’s continued investment in AACED is based upon its continued performance to build a strong and vibrant community by attracting and retaining wealth building businesses and industries,” Dan explained. Keith Boales of the Ashland County Community Foundation thanked Dan and the FirstEnergy Foundation for their continued support.

Ashland Area Council for Economic Development had its first news conference of the year Wednesday to promote growth in the community and introduce new businesses.
Five business owners shared their stories about working with AACED.
“I thought it went very well for the first (news) conference of the year,” executive director Kathy Goon said. “We were able to show business starts and expansions in Ashland County.”
